How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! (Isaiah 52:7)

OCTOBER 2022

Dear Members and Friends,

the Bible says, "...And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd."
(Jonah 4:6)

It is indeed gourd season. This unusual Bible verse reminds us that God sometime uses the little things to illustrate his care.  And elsewhere in Jonah -  sometimes the big things with sharp teeth to keep us in line!

We hope you enjoy this month's issue.  We have a wonderful podcast featuring the first soloist at TMC.   From The Christian Science Journal there is a deep article on Christian Science through the lens of "science".  We have also added another precious account from the Monitor on People Making a Difference.  I never regret reading the  Christian Science Monitor.  There is always a new insight and blessing.

With love,

This month we welcome a full slate of guests to talk about the life and significance of singer Marcella Craft, one of the first soloists of The Mother Church.

Craft was an internationally renowned opera singer in the early decades of the twentieth century. She worked with celebrated composers like Giacomo Puccini and Richard Strauss, and shared the stage with Italian tenor Enrico Caruso.

We’ll speak with Rivi Feinsilber, assistant archivist at The Mary Baker Eddy Library. Joining in are Bill Burden and Teddy Crecelius, two frequent Mother Church guest soloists with professional opera experience. ... They all provide insight into what it meant for this gifted soprano to have been an inaugural Mother Church soloist.
